Dr. Peter Wohlgemuth

I strive to provide the highest standards of orthodontic care to my patients and maintain memberships in a number of vital organizations in order to stay on the cutting edge of changes and technological advances.

I was born and raised with my three brothers in Waterbury, Connecticut. My father and two older brothers paved the way for a career in medicine, but I decided early on that I wanted to help people smile.

Education

After receiving my Bachelor of Science degree and graduating cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Engineering and Applied Science in 1980, I attended dental school at Boston University, graduating in the top 5% of my class in 1984. While attending my orthodontic residency at Boston University, I was admitted to the National Dental Honor Society and published my research, “Orthodontic Treatment and How it Relates to TMJ” in the American Journal of Orthodontics.

Continuing Education

I strive to provide the highest standards of orthodontic care to my patients and maintain memberships in a number of vital organizations in order to stay on the cutting edge of changes and technological advances. My team and I have received numerous awards for our accomplishments with SureSmile. I was also asked to be one of the few orthodontists nationwide to serve on the SureSmile advisory board. I have always prided myself on staying ahead of the curve and have recently enjoyed teaching other orthodontists around the country about virtual treatment and the future of orthodontics.

Outside the Office

I met my wife, Ilene, at the University of Pennsylvania and we’ve been married for over 32 years. Close family ties have always been an important value for my wife and me, and that was what brought us to Florida in 1986.  Our son, Josh, has decided to keep dentistry in the family. He graduated from Columbia University Dental School in 2014 and is getting a combined MD and Oral Surgery Degree from UCLA. Our daughter, Michelle, graduated from Tulane University in New Orleans in 2012 and is currently working in New York City in the marketing and public relations field.

In my free time, I am an avid golfer and now share my passion with my son. Exercise, music, the Miami Heat and electronics help me to relax, but spending time with my wife and two children is what I really enjoy and value outside the office. Together, my family takes pride in being involved in our community. By supporting many organizations, local sports teams, area schools, synagogues, churches and many patients’ endeavors, I have been able to give back to the community that has helped me fulfill many of my dreams.
